Society Hill Synagogue Celebrates Interfaith Family Month

Today’s post by┬áDebra Stewart, Immediate Past President of Society Hill Synagogue and Center City Kehillah representative.

In honor and support of interfaith couples and families, please join Society Hill Synagogue on November 25th for our Kabbalat Shabbat Learning Service at 6:15 PM followed by Shabbat Dinner. Rabbi Winokur will enhance our understanding of the Shabbat service for people of other faiths, backgrounds, and cultures and as well as those who are Jewish. Society Hill Synagogue is located at 418 Spruce Street.
My first experience at SHS was attending Rabbi Winokur’s Learning Service as part of an interfaith program. Married to Bill, a practicing Catholic, and having grown up Jewish but without any religious education or synagogue exposure, I was delighted, felt comfortable, and was welcomed at SHS. This served as a great introduction for Bill as well, who has come to really enjoy the SHS community.
We look forward to learning of the interests and needs of interfaith couples/families so that we can develop programs and connections to support and enrich their synagogue experience.
