February 4 @ 6:45 pm - 8:45 pm
The South Philadelphia Shtiebel, Mekor Habracha and the Jewish Learning Center of Philadelphia (JLCP) invite you to join us for an exciting new program, the Basic Judaism Class.
Topics include but are not limited to: The Jewish Life Cycle, Jewish history, philosophy, ethics, practice, and Bible. We will experience the spirituality and tastes of Shabbat. We will journey together through the experiences of the various Jewish holidays. This 36-week course will include a weekly class on Tuesday evenings from 6:45 to 8:45 PM, and is open to all those who are interested in learning about and being involved in the beauty of Jewish traditions, ideas, texts, history, and community. The course begins Tuesday February 4. The suggested donation for the 36 classes is $500, though no one will be turned away for financial reasons.
Not sure if the course is right for you? Contact Rabbi David Kalb, Rabbi Eliezer Hirsch or Rabbanit Dasi Fruchter for more info. Please indicate on the registration form if you would also be interested in a Crash Course in Hebrew in Reading, as a a companion to Basic Judaism (To be offered during the last several weeks of the Basic Judaism Class).
The Basic Judaism Class is not a conversion program in and of itself, but it can be used as a course of study for individuals pursuing conversion to Judaism. If you are interested in conversion, please speak to us and we will connect you to an appropriate Rabbi.
The Jewish Learning Center of Philadelphia is based on the highly successful Jewish Learning Center of New York, a project of Ohr Torah Stone. The Jewish Learning Center provides intellectually stimulating Jewish educational programs, vibrant cultural activities, exciting social gatherings and important social action programs in the context of a spiritual, open and welcoming setting.
