Nuts & Bolts with Rabbi Nathan Kamesar
March 15, 2020 @ 9:45 am - 10:15 am
Do you ever feel like you’d like to know more about Judaism? Maybe you became a Bar or Bat Mitzvah when you were young but are still grappling with your spiritual heritage as an adult. Maybe you are from a different (or no) religious background but are contemplating conversion. Maybe you have a reasonably active Jewish life but feel like you could use more knowledge on a wide range of Jewish subjects. Nuts & Bolts & Beyond: A (Re)Introduction to Judaism, an 9-month, 15-session class, is designed both for those newly-exploring Judaism and for those looking to re-explore their tradition.
In this course, we touch on a range of Jewish topics: different Jewish conceptions of God and God’s role in the world; Torah and other sacred Jewish texts; prayer; Holidays (Yom Kippur, Passover, and the rest); Shabbat/the Sabbath; Life Cycle events (Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Wedding, etc.); Jewish History; the Holocaust; the Modern State of Israel; Jewish notions of justice; and more.
The course centers around readings and facilitated dialogue and conversation with open-mindedness towards a wide range of viewpoints and backgrounds. For more information, contact Rabbi Kamesar at 215.922.6590 or rabbikamesar@
