Over 20 Years of Poems and Readings That Illuminate and Deepen Jewish Prayer

March 24, 2020 @ 7:00 pm

For almost two decades, Rabbi Winokur has included poems and readings in Society Hill Synagogue’s holiday services to deepen the meaning and experience of our prayers—sort of as a midrash on the prayers. “What is midrash, Rabbi?” “Don’t worry, I’ll explain.”
Many of these readings/poems are commentaries/midrash on the prayers we studied in the fall. Finally, after all these years, we can actually take the time to delve into them and explore their meanings together. Please note: if you have any favorite readings or poems you would like to review in particular, just let Rabbi Winokur know.
