“I so appreciate the organizing efforts of the Kehillah as it has been such a great way to meet people and dream up opportunities for collaboration.”
I recently had the opportunity to learn more about Emma and OneTable. Enjoy!
(RK) Emma, tell me a little bit about you.
(EC) I am a born and raised New Yorker who has lived in Portland, Oregon for the last six years. I moved to Philadelphia this past fall to be closer to family and pursue my graduate degree at Jefferson U in Medical Cannabis Science and Business. I am currently the Philadelphia Field Manager for OneTable. Inspired by ancient Jewish wisdom, OneTable is a national non-profit that empowers folks (21-39ish) to find, share, and enjoy Shabbat dinners, making the most of their Friday nights. When I’m not working or studying, I love to paint, read, cook, and explore Philly with my fiancé.
(RK) What do you enjoy about your work for OneTable?
(EC) OneTable is rooted in a work culture of kind collaboration. The people I get to work with everyday are so inspiring! Plus, connecting with the people of Philadelphia and spreading the magic of Shabbat is incredibly rewarding. OneTable takes a non-prescriptive approach to Shabbat, so I help people dream up their ideal Friday night and it is so fun to witness.
(RK) Are there any upcoming OneTable programs or announcements you want folks to know about?
(EC) There will be a launch event this spring in person in Philadelphia! I can’t wait to celebrate with our community. More info coming soon.
(RK) OneTable recently became a member of the Center City Kehillah. Tell us about what the Kehillah has meant for you, thus far, as a newer Jewish professional in the Philly area.
(EC) As OneTable is a national organization, my coworkers are spread all across the country. The Kehillah has provided me with a connection to the incredible organizations and beautiful Jewish community in Philly. I so appreciate the organizing efforts of the Kehillah as it has been such a great way to meet people and dream up opportunities for collaboration.
(RK)What is a not-to-be missed spot that you have discovered in Philly?
(EC) I love Wonderspaces – an immersive art experience in Center City. So fun to go with friends for a couple of hours! Plus Philly Aids Thrift – you can catch me there shopping and then grabbing lunch at 4th Street Deli most weekends.
